Professor Zbigniew Gronostajski

The main area of interest of the Section is the widely understood area of metals  processing technology. It includes all technologies that change the shape and physical or chemical properties of individual elements, including the effect of heat. Technological processes together with auxiliary activities constitute the production process, as a result of which the final product is obtained, therefore the Section will insist to cooperate with the industry.

The tasks of the Section fit into the role of The Materials Science and Metallurgy Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which expresses the integration of the scientific community dealing with technological processes by organizing conferences and seminars, strengthening cooperation with industry, joint initiatives in awarding the best doctoral dissertations and preparing common review articles.

The following teams will operate as part of the Technological Processes Section:

  • The Foundry Group
  • The Metal Forming Group

It is planned to appoint other Task Groups depending on the people who sign up for the Section. Each team should include people representing given technologies from all over the country.

The teams will be involved in the work of the industry associations related to technological processes in order to maintain direct contact with the broadly understood representatives of the industry.

Section operation plan

  1. The meeting of the Section should be held at least once a year, in a scientific institution or enterprise.
Due to the wide thematic scope of the section, three lectures will be planned:
  • Lecture by the host of meeting
  • Interdisciplinary lecture (must cover issues relevant to all Groups).
  • Lecture by a guest from abroad about current research topics.
  • Discussion on the current matters of the Section.
  1. Independently of the Section meeting, the Task Teams should organize their own meetings.
  2. Section will highlight the best doctoral dissertations related to individual Task Teams. The authors of the awarded works will be able to present them during the Section's meetings.
  3. Section will have its own website, which will be posted reports of meetings and seminars of the Section and Task Teams.
  4. In a two-year cycle, Section will prepare review papers on a selected technological issue for a wide science audience.
